A change of meaning relative to the source statement that, on one stated scale, is larger at a later station than at an earlier station of the same relay, across at least two transfers up to the later station, and that is not corrected between those stations.

Im Unterschied zur seriellen Reproduktion (Bartlett, 1932) ist dieser Begriff ein gemessener Anstieg des Abstands zur Ausgangsaussage, nicht die Methode des Weitererzählens. Im Unterschied zu einer menschlich gesteuerten Agentenstaffel ist zwischen den Agenten keine Aufsichtshandlung erforderlich. Im Unterschied zur Bedingungsdrift ist die Änderung nicht der Verlust einer einschränkenden Bedingung.
