KernbegriffCore term
BedingungsdriftCondition drift
The original said “applies only if …” – in the summary the “only if” has vanished, and suddenly everything sounds more general than it is.
Kennst du das?Ever had this?
In sport you may shoot only after the whistle, and in the retelling all that remains is that you may shoot. When an answering program summarizes that same line, the limit can drop, and the line seems broader than its source.
DefinitionDefinition
The loss or weakening of a condition that limits a statement – such as “only if”, “except when” or “until” – when the statement is summarised, translated or handed over, so that the result appears to hold more generally than its source, without new evidence for the wider scope.
Was es nicht istWhat it is not
Unlike concept drift (Gama and colleagues, 2014), one derivation step is enough, and what is lost is a limiting condition rather than a shift in inputs and a target over time. Unlike an epistemic upgrade, the change is not a stronger commitment of the same scope. The wider wording is this term only when no new evidence for that scope is attached.

RegelnRules
- List every limiting condition of the source and record which are preserved, dropped or weakened in the derived statement.
- Do not record this loss when evidence_added refers to new evidence for the wider scope.

condition_drift(source_ref, derived_ref) := source_ref AND derived_ref AND evidence_added is null AND (count(dropped_conditions) >= 1 OR count(weakened_conditions) >= 1)
Kind: testable against data, bound to a time or a reference.
Für NormungsgremienFor standards bodies
One derivation step is enough. The wider scope is recorded only when evidence_added is null.
Für OrganisationenFor organisations
Names the case in which a limiting condition is lost or weakened in a summary, translation or handover and no new evidence for the wider scope is attached.
