FähigkeitsgrenzeCapability boundary

MANITAI-DimensionMANITAI dimension: ROBMANITAI

You write down what a robot is meant to do, or has shown, under stated conditions, and you keep the intention apart from the evidence.

Kennst du das?Ever had this?

The recipe card says the cake is meant for this oven at 180 degrees, and, separately, that it came out well twice. With a robot, the same boundary records intended or shown ability under stated conditions and keeps intention and evidence apart.

DefinitionDefinition

A documented boundary of a system's intended or demonstrated capability under stated conditions, with intention kept distinct from evidence.

Was es nicht istWhat it is not

Unlike a level of automation, a division of decision and action between a person and a system (Parasuraman, Sheridan, and Wickens, 2000), a capability boundary is the documented limit of intended or demonstrated capability under stated conditions. Unlike an operational design domain (SAE J3016_202104), operating conditions for a driving automation system, it is not that domain and not only for road vehicles. Unlike a capability declaration, an offer of functions for a use, it is that limit, not the offer.

Für NormungsgremienFor standards bodies

Source: RM:0085. Levels of automation are Parasuraman, Sheridan, and Wickens, 2000. An operational design domain is SAE J3016_202104. A capability declaration and capability leapfrog are neighbouring terms in this vocabulary. The limits of machinery in ISO 12100:2010 are set for risk assessment; this boundary does not replace that assessment. No conformity to ISO 12100:2010, SAE J3016_202104, or any other named standard is claimed.

Für OrganisationenFor organisations

Names the case in which a documented boundary states a system's intended or demonstrated capability under stated conditions and keeps intention distinct from evidence.
