The sensor of the interface presses, sticks, or annoys, and you report that apart from whether the command succeeds.

Kennst du das?Ever had this?

The wool cap itches after an hour, whether or not you still know the way. At the interface you report that kind of bodily annoyance from the worn sensor, separate from whether the command succeeds.

DefinitionDefinition

An experience, reported by a person operating a brain–computer interface, in which a sensor worn for the interface causes a bodily annoyance that the person does not tie to whether a command succeeded.

Was es nicht istWhat it is not

Device-satisfaction questionnaires used with these interfaces, including the Quebec User Evaluation of Satisfaction with Assistive Technology (Demers, Weiss-Lambrou & Ska, 2002, as cited in the 2015 home evaluation), ask about comfort among other points and yield a satisfaction score. Wear discomfort is not that score. It is the reported bodily annoyance from the worn sensor, and the person does not tie it to whether a command succeeded. Time spent putting the sensor on belongs with setup weight, not with this annoyance. Unlike hold weariness, weariness from keeping attention on a command that is reported as greater later in the session and is attributed to that holding, this annoyance is reported as coming from the worn sensor.

Source: AUGMANITAI analysis of published first-person accounts of brain–computer interface use (BRAMANITAI research file, 2026-10-16). QUEST (Demers, Weiss-Lambrou & Ska, 2002) is a neighboring satisfaction questionnaire that includes comfort. This entry is not that score. ISO/IEC 8663:2025 is a vocabulary for brain–computer interface technology. IEEE P2731 is a draft terminology project; a glossary proposal from that work was published in 2021. This entry records a reported experience of operating such an interface. No conformity to ISO/IEC 8663:2025, to IEEE P2731, or to any other named standard is claimed.
