WartezustandWaiting state

MANITAI-DimensionMANITAI dimension: ROBMANITAI

You read that the robot waits for an expected event, like a door. Waiting is not a stop, and it can move again then.

Kennst du das?Ever had this?

At the board game nobody can make the next move until a particular card is on the table. With a robot it is the same waiting state when a recorded system state makes the next task step depend on an expected event.

DefinitionDefinition

A recorded system state in which the next task step depends on an expected event.

Was es nicht istWhat it is not

Unlike an emergency stop function in ISO 13850:2015, a function initiated by a single human action and intended to avert or reduce hazards, a waiting state is a recorded dependence of the next task step on an expected event, not that stop. Unlike a safety-rated monitored stop in ISO 10218-1:2011 and ISO/TS 15066:2016 (collaborative terminology since revised in ISO 10218-1:2025 and ISO 10218-2:2025), a safety function that holds a robot still, it is that record, not that function. Unlike a waiting process state in operating systems (Silberschatz, Galvin and Gagne, Operating System Concepts, 10th edition, Wiley), it concerns a robot task step, not process scheduling.

Für NormungsgremienFor standards bodies

Source: RM:0075. An emergency stop function in ISO 13850:2015 is a function initiated by a single human action and intended to avert or reduce hazards, not this dependence on an expected event. A safety-rated monitored stop as described in ISO 10218-1:2011 and ISO/TS 15066:2016 (collaborative terminology since revised, and the content now integrated, in ISO 10218-1:2025 and ISO 10218-2:2025) is a safety function; this entry does not certify that function. The waiting (blocked) process state in operating systems (Silberschatz, Galvin and Gagne, Operating System Concepts, 10th edition, Wiley) concerns process scheduling, not a robot's task step. The source separates this state from a fault state. An escalation signal is a neighbouring term in this vocabulary. No conformity to ISO 13850:2015, ISO 10218-1:2011, ISO 10218-1:2025, ISO/TS 15066:2016, or any other named standard is claimed.
