DefinitionDefinition
A signal from an agent that a stated boundary has been reached and that a human decision is requested.
Was es nicht istWhat it is not
Unlike escalation in incident handling, which moves a case up a support line, an escalation signal is a signal from an agent that a stated boundary has been reached and that a human decision is requested. Unlike intermediate points set in advance for an agent task, the signal is raised when a stated boundary has been reached. Unlike an oversight decision, which is a person's selection of a course of action, the signal is the request, not that selection. Unlike an intervention capability, which is a usable option to alter, pause, or end a step, the signal is the request, not that option. Unlike an agent handshake, which is the opening exchange that establishes capabilities, limits, and task parameters, the signal is not that exchange.

Für NormungsgremienFor standards bodies
Escalation is already used in incident handling for moving a case up a support line. Examples of a boundary, not part of the definition, are uncertainty, an unexpected situation, and missing permission. The source distinguishes the signal from the human decision. No conformity to a named standard is claimed.
Für OrganisationenFor organisations
Names the case in which an agent signals that a stated boundary has been reached and that a human decision is requested.
