ReferenzklärungsbedarfReference clarification need
MANITAI-DimensionMANITAI dimension: ROBMANITAI
Someone says “that one” or “over there”, and you cannot tell which thing or which place is meant.
Kennst du das?Ever had this?
Two blue cups stand on the table, and nobody can say which one is meant by “the blue one”. With a robot it is the same reference clarification need when a reference cannot be unambiguously assigned to a relevant object or place.
DefinitionDefinition
A situation in which a reference cannot be unambiguously assigned to a relevant object or place.
Was es nicht istWhat it is not
Unlike joint attention, an interaction in which participants are directed to the same object (Tomasello, 1995), a reference clarification need is a situation in which a reference cannot be unambiguously assigned. Unlike referential ambiguity in linguistics, a property of an expression, this is one such situation, not that property in general. Unlike goal ambiguity, a state in which several task goals fit the available information, it concerns the assignment of a reference, not the number of goals.

RegelnRules
- Record the situation, the reference, and that the reference cannot be unambiguously assigned to a relevant object or place.
- Do not record a shared orientation to one object, a rejection of a suggestion, or several compatible task goals as this situation.

Source: RM:0066. Joint attention is Tomasello, 1995. Grounding in communication is Clark and Brennan, 1991. Referential ambiguity in linguistics is a property of an expression, not this situation. Semantic ejection and meant–done distance are neighbouring terms in this vocabulary. No conformity to a named standard is claimed.
Für OrganisationenFor organisations
