KernbegriffCore term
The work runs so smoothly that you skip a check you would have made on the same task by hand.
Kennst du das?Ever had this?
When you do a calculation yourself, you check the last step. When you copy a smooth finished solution, you skip that check. With an AI it is the same skipped check, because the work runs so smoothly that the friction of handwork is missing.
DefinitionDefinition
The case in which work assisted by artificial intelligence runs so smoothly that a person skips a check or a reflection point that manual work on the same task would have produced.
Was es nicht istWhat it is not
Unlike automation complacency, poorer detection of automation failures under reliable automation (Parasuraman, Molloy, and Singh, 1993), a frictionless gap is the absence of a check or a reflection point that manual work would have produced, not a missed detection during monitoring. Unlike fluency blindness, it is not a lower check rate for more fluent outputs. An absence of errors is not this term. A checkpoint in computing, a stored restart point, is not the skipped point. A fail-open check step is a record in which a missing check looks like a passed check, not this skip. Unlike an oversight check, no property has to be named beforehand.

RegelnRules
- Set manual_check_would_occur only for a check or reflection point that manual work on the same task would have produced.
- Set smoothness_removed_friction only when the assisted run is what removed that occasion, and check_made only when the person actually makes that check.

Für NormungsgremienFor standards bodies
Related literature: automation complacency (Parasuraman, Molloy, and Singh, 1993). No conformity to that work is claimed.
Für OrganisationenFor organisations
Names the case in which a check or reflection point of manual work is skipped because assisted work on the same task runs smoothly.

Neu in Fassung 2New in version 2: The delimitation restores each neighbour and states fluency blindness as a lower check rate, and the rule has a predicate head.
