HimmelspunktverlustSpeck loss

Earlier working name: Sichtpunktverlust

MANITAI-DimensionMANITAI dimension: DROMANITAI

Your Speck loss is losing that small speck in the sky and not knowing which way the drone went.

Kennst du das?Ever had this?

The bird grows small against the bright sky and is suddenly gone, and you do not know which way. Your Speck loss loses the small speck of the unmanned civilian aircraft and does not know which way it went.

DefinitionDefinition

The loss in which a person who had an unmanned civilian aircraft in sight loses that small speck against the sky and does not know which way it went.

Was es nicht istWhat it is not

Speck loss is not VLOS, the operating condition of keeping the unmanned aircraft in sight. It is not the visual observer, also called UA observer, whose task is to keep the aircraft in sight. It names the experience that the speck vanishes and its direction is unknown. When the person is the remote pilot or a visual observer, the same moment can also be a loss of VLOS under the applicable operating rules. This entry does not decide that question.

Für NormungsgremienFor standards bodies

Source: AUGMANITAI analysis of published accounts of civilian drone use (DROMANITAI research file, 2026-10-16). VLOS and the visual observer, also called UA observer or unmanned-aircraft observer, are neighbouring established terms and are not renamed. Descriptions of that observer role are neighbours, not experience sources for this loss. No conformity to a named standard is claimed. person_ref identifies a natural person and is personal data; it is recorded only for a person who reports the experience, not for people observed from the aircraft.

Für OrganisationenFor organisations

Names the case in which the Speck loss holds, namely a person who had an unmanned civilian aircraft in sight loses that small speck against the sky and does not know which way it went.

Neu in Fassung 2New in version 2: The standards note now describes cited accounts without unresolved codes, and a personal-data note was added, and the delimitation now names the experience and does not decide a loss of visual line of sight.
