KernbegriffCore term

HeimkehrwartenHomeward wait

Earlier working name: Heimkehrwarte

MANITAI-DimensionMANITAI dimension: DROMANITAI

Homeward wait: the drone's signal is gone, the sticks do nothing, you wait until the link returns or you see or hear it come back.

Kennst du das?Ever had this?

Your call drops mid-sentence and you stand there holding the phone, waiting for it to ring again. Your Homeward wait holds control sticks that do nothing until the link returns or the unmanned civilian aircraft is seen or heard coming back.

DefinitionDefinition

The wait in which, after the control link of an unmanned civilian aircraft drops, the person flying it holds control sticks that do nothing until the link returns or the aircraft is seen or heard coming back.

Was es nicht istWhat it is not

Homeward wait is not return-to-home, the function that brings the aircraft back, and not a flyaway, in which the aircraft does not come back as expected. It is not Speck loss, the loss of the small speck and of its direction.

Source: AUGMANITAI analysis of published accounts of civilian drone use (DROMANITAI research file, 2026-10-16). Return-to-home and flyaway are neighbouring established terms and are not renamed. In one cited account the wait ends when the link returns or the aircraft is seen; hearing the aircraft return is included as a further end of the wait. No conformity to a named standard is claimed. person_ref identifies a natural person and is personal data; it is recorded only for a person who reports the experience, not for people observed from the aircraft. This entry names an experience and is not a lost-link procedure; the operator's emergency procedures and the aircraft's lost-link behaviour under Regulations (EU) 2019/945 and 2019/947 apply.

Für OrganisationenFor organisations

Neu in Fassung 2New in version 2: The standards note now describes cited accounts without unresolved codes, and a personal-data note was added, and the note says this is an experience and not a lost-link procedure, and the time and aircraft labels were aligned.
