KernbegriffCore term

Stundenlange SteuerungLong-haul control

MANITAI-DimensionMANITAI dimension: BRAMANITAI

You keep control of the interface going for at least 120 minutes without a break.

Kennst du das?Ever had this?

You read on and on, and the book stays open for two hours or more without a break. At the interface you report that same unbroken stretch of control.

DefinitionDefinition

An experience, reported by a person operating a brain–computer interface, in which that person keeps control going, without a break, for 120 minutes or more.

Was es nicht istWhat it is not

Unlike flow (Csikszentmihalyi, 1990), an absorbed state with an altered sense of time, long-haul control requires no absorption, only an unbroken run of 120 minutes or more. Unlike hold weariness, weariness from keeping attention on a command that is reported as greater later in the same session and is attributed to that holding, this run is not defined by weariness. A person can report both. The term does not grade the run.

Source: AUGMANITAI analysis of published first-person accounts of brain–computer interface use (BRAMANITAI research file, 2026-10-16). Flow (Csikszentmihalyi, 1990) is the neighboring absorbed state and is not required. This entry is the reported unbroken run of control of 120 minutes or more. The term does not grade the run. ISO/IEC 8663:2025 is a vocabulary for brain–computer interface technology. IEEE P2731 is a draft terminology project; a glossary proposal from that work was published in 2021. This entry records a reported experience of operating such an interface. No conformity to ISO/IEC 8663:2025, to IEEE P2731, or to any other named standard is claimed.
