KernbegriffCore term
Scheinbare LastbalanceLoad balancing illusion
You see a simple number that shows an even split, and the real work is uneven.
Kennst du das?Ever had this?
You see a rota where each person has two shifts. Only one person handles the cash box and the dispute in both. With an AI you get the same apparent balance when a simple count looks even and the real load is uneven.
DefinitionDefinition
The state in which a simple allocation measure looks balanced while the task-relevant workloads remain uneven.
Was es nicht istWhat it is not
Unlike load balancing in computing, the assignment of work in order to spread it, a load-balancing illusion is not that assignment. It is the state in which a simple allocation measure looks balanced and the task-relevant workloads are uneven. Unlike Goodhart's law (Goodhart, 1975), in the common wording that a measure which becomes a target ceases to be a good measure (Strathern, 1997), this state does not require that the measure has become a target. Unlike the control illusion in orchestration, a person's rating of their ability to intervene in one orchestrated workflow that exceeds another assessor's level on the same scale by more than a margin stated before the rating, this state is not that rating. The person may rate their ability to intervene accurately while the simple measure still looks balanced.

RegelnRules
- Record whether the simple allocation measure looks balanced, and record separately whether the task-relevant workloads are even.
- Do not infer even task-relevant workloads from an even count of assigned items.

Für NormungsgremienFor standards bodies
Source: SWA26-0013. Load balancing in computing is the assignment of work in order to spread it. The control illusion in orchestration is a neighbouring term in this vocabulary. No conformity to a named standard is claimed.
Für OrganisationenFor organisations
