Another person prepares the interface, and only then do you control it and call that control yours.
Kennst du das?Ever had this?
Someone laces your skates, and only then do you skate yourself and say that the skating is yours. At the interface you report that same handed start and, after it, your own control.
DefinitionDefinition
An experience, reported by a person operating a brain–computer interface, in which that person controls the interface only after another person has prepared it and reports that control, after the preparation, as their own.
Was es nicht istWhat it is not
Unlike the sense of agency (Gallagher, 2000), the sense that one is the author of an action, a handed start does not settle who caused an action. It records only that preparation by another person preceded control the person calls their own. Unlike place-bound control, the report that control is available only in the place where the equipment is set up, a handed start is about who prepares the interface, not about the place. The same person can report both.

RegelnRules
- Record that another person prepared the interface, without storing that other person's identity, and that the person reports controlling it only after that preparation and reports that control as their own.
- Do not record the other person's preparation, by itself, as the first person's control.

The sense of agency (Gallagher, 2000) is the neighboring concept and is not settled here. This entry is preparation by another person before control the person calls their own. The other person's identity is not stored. ISO/IEC 8663:2025 is a vocabulary for brain–computer interface technology. IEEE P2731 is a draft terminology project; a glossary proposal from that work was published in 2021. This entry records a reported experience of operating such an interface. No conformity to ISO/IEC 8663:2025, to IEEE P2731, or to any other named standard is claimed.
Für OrganisationenFor organisations
Names the experience in which a person controls a brain–computer interface only after another person has prepared it and reports that control as their own.
