KernbegriffCore term
Gewohnheits-ResetHabit reset
Earlier working name: Unlearning Protocol
You consciously lay aside a worn-in habit of working with artificial intelligence when it no longer fits.
Kennst du das?Ever had this?
When you bake, you take the same bowl every time, though the dough sticks. You consciously leave it aside because it no longer fits. With an AI you do the same when you lay aside a worn-in habit once it no longer fits.
DefinitionDefinition
The conscious laying aside, by a person, of a worn-in habit of working with artificial intelligence when that habit no longer fits.
Was es nicht istWhat it is not
Unlike machine unlearning (Cao and Yang, 2015; Bourtoule and others, 2021), the removal of the effect of training data from a model, a habit reset is not that removal. It is the conscious laying aside, by a person, of a worn-in habit of working with artificial intelligence when that habit no longer fits. Unlike organizational unlearning (Hedberg, 1981), an organization's discarding of knowledge it no longer uses, this laying aside is not that discarding of organizational knowledge. Unlike deskilling (Braverman, 1974), a structural reduction of skill in work, this term is not a loss of skill. Unlike skill decay, the loss of a skill through lack of practice, this term is not that loss. Unlike delegation skill erosion, the gradual decline under increasing delegation of a skill a person previously performed without an AI system, this term is not that decline. The skill may remain while the habit of use is laid aside. The term does not tell the person to lay a habit aside.

RegelnRules
- Record the habit of working with artificial intelligence, whether it is worn in, whether it still fits, and whether the person consciously lays it aside.
- Do not record the removal of a training effect from a model as this laying aside, and do not record a loss of skill as this laying aside.

Für NormungsgremienFor standards bodies
Machine unlearning, as in Cao and Yang (2015) and Bourtoule and others (2021), is the removal of the effect of training data from a model. Organizational unlearning in Hedberg (1981) is an organization's discarding of knowledge. Deskilling (Braverman, 1974) is a structural reduction of skill in work; skill decay through lack of practice is a separate neighbour. Delegation skill erosion is a neighbouring term in this vocabulary. No conformity to a named standard is claimed.
Für OrganisationenFor organisations
Names the case in which a person consciously lays aside a worn-in habit of working with artificial intelligence when that habit no longer fits.
