KernbegriffCore term

DelegationsschwundDelegation skill erosion

Also known as: skill fade (AI delegation sense)

When you hand more and more of a task you used to do yourself without AI over to AI, that same skill declines step by step.

Kennst du das?Ever had this?

A friend takes over more and more of your sports write-ups, and your skill at writing them yourself declines step by step. When you hand that same task increasingly to artificial intelligence, that gradual drop in a skill you had without it is delegation skill erosion.

DefinitionDefinition

The gradual decline, under increasing delegation of a task to an AI system, of a skill that a person previously performed without that system.

Was es nicht istWhat it is not

Unlike skill fade in aviation and training (e.g. SKYbrary: decay of ability over a period of non-use, from many causes), this term is tied to delegation to AI. Unlike deskilling as a structural change of work, it concerns one person's skill. The term is descriptive and implies no judgement about whether the delegation was warranted.

Für NormungsgremienFor standards bodies

This record evaluates an identified person's performance, reliability or ability and is profiling under GDPR Art. 4(4); in employment or education it needs a legal basis under Art. 6 and Art. 88 and, in Germany, co-determination under BetrVG § 87(1) No. 6 and § 94, and it must not be the sole basis of a decision about that person (Art. 22). It does not assess, rank or diagnose the person, is not an assessment of competence, honesty or authorship, and is not for assessing individuals; prefer pseudonymised or aggregated records.

Für OrganisationenFor organisations

Makes the effect of delegation on skills observable, in pseudonymised or aggregated form unless a legal basis for evaluating identified individuals exists, and only for that person's own use or for research with consent. It is not for monitoring or evaluating workers or learners.
