Glitch-ErnteGlitch harvest

Earlier working name: Glitch-Mining

You do not only throw away a faulty or unexpected output, but you deliberately search it for a usable idea.

Kennst du das?Ever had this?

A failed idea at rehearsal does not only go in the bin; you search it for a usable thought. With artificial intelligence it is the same deliberate search in a faulty or unexpected output.

DefinitionDefinition

The conscious activity of systematically searching errors, unsupported outputs, or unexpected outputs of a system of artificial intelligence for usable ideas, perspectives, or creative impulses, rather than only discarding those outputs.

Was es nicht istWhat it is not

Unlike data mining, the extraction of patterns from data sets (Fayyad, Piatetsky-Shapiro, and Smyth, 1996), this activity searches particular errors or unexpected outputs for a usable idea. Unlike the second skill, it is not the ability to judge whether an output meets a named property. Merely tolerating or ignoring an error, which the source sets apart, does not meet the rule. Unlike glitch-token mining, the search for inputs that make models behave unpredictably (Wu, Gao, Wang, and others, 2024, arXiv:2410.15052), this activity searches faulty or unexpected outputs for a usable idea. It is not that search for inputs.

Source: AUGMANITAI lexicon entry AUG-0084. Related literature: data mining in the sense surveyed by Fayyad, Piatetsky-Shapiro, and Smyth (1996). No conformity to that work is claimed.

Für OrganisationenFor organisations

Names the case in which errors, unsupported outputs, or unexpected outputs are systematically searched for a usable idea, perspective, or creative impulse rather than only discarded.
