Ausführung für Vorschau gehaltenExecution mistaken for preview

You want a click only to show a possible change, but it has already changed the content.

Kennst du das?Ever had this?

You tap “Shorter version” on your text, only to see what would change. You think it is only a peek, but the old paragraph is already gone. With an AI, the click has already changed the content.

DefinitionDefinition

The state in which a person expects an interaction merely to display a possible change, while that interaction has already changed the digital content concerned, and a later inspection shows the changed content.

Was es nicht istWhat it is not

The gulf of execution is the gap between a person's intentions and the actions a system allows (Norman, 1986); execution mistaken for preview is a content change already made while only a display was expected. Deliberate preview adoption applies a chosen version after a separate preview; here the content changes while a mere display is still expected. Leaving as a save trigger needs a move from one area to another; this state does not.

Für NormungsgremienFor standards bodies

Source: UXD-20261004-001. The gulf of execution is the gap between intentions and allowable actions (Norman, 1986). Meant–done distance in this vocabulary is a distance on a scale, not this state. The state holds even when the output is readily perceivable. The expectation field records a reported or observed expectation, attributes no fault to the person, and is not for assessing individuals. No conformity to a named standard is claimed.

Für OrganisationenFor organisations

Names the case in which a person expects an interaction only to display a possible change, while that interaction has already changed the digital content concerned.
