While you picture the command to the interface, the body joins in, and you try to stop that joining.
Kennst du das?Ever had this?
You picture a heavy crate, notice that you are holding your breath, and then breathe out on purpose. At the interface you report that the body began to join in while you pictured a command, and that you tried to stop that joining.
DefinitionDefinition
An experience, reported by a person operating a brain–computer interface, in which the body, at the muscles, the breath, the eyes, or another part, begins to join in while that person pictures a command, the person notices that joining, and the person tries to stop it.
Was es nicht istWhat it is not
Motor imagery (Jeannerod, 1995) is the mental image of a movement; body join-in is the noticed joining plus the attempt to stop it. A still-body command uses a pictured movement as a command while the body does not carry that movement out; body join-in requires the noticed joining and the attempt to stop it. Quasi-movements (Nikulin, Hohlefeld, Jacobs & Curio, 2008) are minimized movements kept as the command; body join-in is a joining the person tries to stop.

RegelnRules
- Record the person, the command, the body-part category, that the person noticed the body beginning to join in while the command was pictured, and that the person tried to stop that joining.
- Do not record an electromyographic measurement, by itself, as this experience, and do not record a still-body command, without the noticed joining and the attempt to stop it, as this experience.
- person_ref is personal data and the report may be health data; record it only with explicit consent or another documented basis under Art. 9(2) GDPR, referenced in lawful_basis_ref.

Source: AUGMANITAI analysis of published first-person accounts of brain–computer interface use (BRAMANITAI research file, 2026-10-16). Motor imagery (Jeannerod, 1995) is the neighboring mental image, and the reflexes and vegetative changes described with it are not this report. Subliminal muscle activity measured by electromyography during imagery is a neighboring measurement. Quasi-movements (Nikulin, Hohlefeld, Jacobs & Curio, 2008) are a neighboring minimized movement. This entry is the reported joining of the body while a command is pictured, together with the person's attempt to stop that joining. ISO/IEC 8663:2025 is a vocabulary for brain–computer interface technology. IEEE P2731 is a draft terminology project; a glossary proposal from that work was published in 2021. This entry records a reported experience of operating such an interface. No conformity to ISO/IEC 8663:2025, to IEEE P2731, or to any other named standard is claimed. This entry is not a clinical sign, diagnosis, symptom or safety finding, and it makes no claim about the medical condition of any person who uses a brain–computer interface. person_ref identifies a natural person and is personal data; a report of bodily responses during brain–computer interface use can be data concerning health under Art. 9 GDPR. The entry describes a reported experience and makes no diagnostic, therapeutic or safety claim about any brain–computer interface.
Für OrganisationenFor organisations
